Our annual Easter Hat Parade is a joyful celebration where students showcase their creativity with colourful and festive hats. This event encourages imagination and community spirit. Parents and visitors are warmly invited to join us in celebrating this fun tradition.
Anzac/Remembrance Day
Our annual Anzac and Remembrance Day ceremonies provide a meaningful opportunity for students to honour and reflect on the service and sacrifice of our armed forces. These observances foster respect, remembrance, and community connection. Parents and visitors are warmly invited to attend and join in this important tradition.
Excursions
Our school provides a range of excursions, including both day trips and overnight camps, to enhance student learning beyond the classroom. These experiences allow students to explore new environments, develop social skills and teamwork, and engage in practical, hands-on learning. Camps also support personal growth by fostering independence and resilience. All excursions are carefully organised to be safe, educational, and enjoyable.
Incursions
Incursions are special activities and presentations held at the school to enrich students’ learning experiences. These events provide engaging, hands-on opportunities that complement classroom learning. Parents and visitors are encouraged to support and celebrate the diverse programs offered throughout the year.
Transition
Our transition process supports students as they move between key stages of their education. The Kindergarten Transition helps new students become familiar with school routines and environment to ensure a smooth start. The Transition to High School provides senior students with opportunities to visit local high schools, building confidence and preparing them for the next phase of their learning journey.
Education Week
Education Week is an important annual event that celebrates learning and achievement across our school community. Throughout the week, students participate in a range of activities that showcase their skills, creativity, and progress. It is a time to recognise the dedication of our students and staff in fostering a positive learning environment.
Lions Club Public Speaking Competition
The Lions Club Public Speaking Competition offers students the chance to develop and showcase their speaking and communication skills. This event promotes confidence, critical thinking, and effective expression in a supportive environment.
Book Fair
Our school holds two Book Fairs each year, one during Book Week and another towards the end of the year. These events provide students with the opportunity to explore a wide range of books, fostering a love of reading and supporting literacy development.
School Assemblies
Our school holds regular assemblies to recognise achievements, share important information, and celebrate milestones. Parents and visitors are warmly welcomed to attend the major assemblies, which are held one to two times each term. These gatherings promote respect, unity, and a positive school culture.
Premier’s Spelling Bee
The Premier’s Spelling Bee offers students a challenging and engaging competition to develop their spelling and vocabulary skills. Participants gain confidence, improve literacy, and enjoy the opportunity to compete at school and beyond.
Premier’s Debating Challenge
The Premier’s Debating Challenge provides students with a platform to develop critical thinking, public speaking, and teamwork skills. This competition encourages confident expression and thoughtful argumentation in a supportive and engaging environment.
Step Up Day
Step Up Day, held in Term 4, provides students with the opportunity to experience their next year’s classroom environment, meet their new teacher, and connect with future classmates. The day is designed to support students in their transition, helping them feel comfortable, confident, and ready for new challenges in the year ahead.
Presentation Day
Presentation Day, held at the end of Term 4, is a special occasion where we recognise and celebrate the achievements and efforts of our students throughout the year. Awards and acknowledgements are presented across various areas, highlighting academic success, sportsmanship, creativity, and community involvement. This event brings our school community together to reflect on the year’s accomplishments and inspire future goals.
"We chose BPS for our family because it allows for our children to form close relationships and provides for a well-rounded education. With the smaller class sizes, children have the chance to build stronger relationships with their teachers and classmates.” — a parent of Barham Public School
